James grew up taking part in performing arts and appearing in stage shows, notably as one of the Von Trapp children in 'The Sound of Music'. He met Rosie in 2001 and became her dance partner in Salsa and Jive. She also introduced him to Line Dance and he now teaches and DJs at Hot Steppers weekly classes and events. James is passionate about dance and has travelled with Rosie as far as Nashville Tennessee, to gain more experience in Swing Dance. One of his most memorable journies was a road trip with Rosie across Cuba, where live Salsa music could be heard on every street corner and in every bar. It was an exciting experience to dance Salsa in 'Casa de la Musicas' in Havana, Santiago de Cuba and Cien Fuegos to some of the most famous Cuban bands like Los Van Van, Buena Vista Social Club and Bamboleo. James has attended many workshops and dance events in the UK and Europe to further his knowledge of his favourite dance forms. | Rosie
Rosie is a qualified REPS Level 2 Fitness Instructor, Exercise to Music and certified Zumba Instructor and has been teaching dance since 1997. She loves all types of dance from Salsa to Jazz and believes that everyone should learn to dance and experience the joy it brings. She has appeared in several stage shows in the Jazz dance world and trains under Toni Allen-Stone and Gayle Drake (Breeze Academy of Dance). She has also trained in Cuban Salsa with Enrique Perez (Salsa Exposion) and in Ballroom with Simon and Heidi Cruwys (Dance Crazy). Rosie was introduced to Line Dance in 1996 and developed a passion for Western dance in all its forms from West Coast Swing to Two Step. She formed Hot Steppers Dance Company in 1997 to specialise in Line Dance, realising that it would appeal to many people as no partner is required. She now works with James and the classes they run are fun filled, with the emphasis on having a great evening and enjoying the thrill of mastering new dance routines. |
